Jan McClay is…

  • The sole owner of Create~n~Crop Events, LLC
  • A proud Air Force Wife of 18 years
  • Married to Major Mark McClay
  • A mother of two precious girls, Kaylee-9 & Allison-3
  • A scrapping, stamping, paper crafting, event organizing NUT!

Jan McClay is the sole owner of Create~n~Crop Events, LLC in Warner Robins, GA.  Her love of paper crafts began when she was a young girl growing up in Georgia.  Like many others, not realizing that she was actually scrapbooking, she made an album of tickets, awards, ribbons, drawings and more that she wanted to keep “for a lifetime”.  At that time, she used an album with construction paper and used regular household tape to hold things together.

Jan began scrapbooking with Creative Memories in 1994 while stationed in Okinawa, Japan with the Navy.  Her next duty station was in Athens, Georgia where she became a consultant with Creative Memories.  While in Georgia, Jan completed her obligation to the Navy and was honorably discharged. Her husband, Mark, became an Officer in the US Air Force and they moved to Florida for a year, then on to Oklahoma City for another 5 years, where their first daughter, Kaylee, was born.  Jan remained a consultant with Creative Memories until 2005.  As a consultant, she held scrapbooking events for 9 years, at which time, they received orders to Germany.  Once they moved to Germany, Jan was introduced to more than she could ever imagine…ribbon, eyelets, die cut machines, embellishments and more… her crafting/scrapbooking world changed forever!  While in Germany, she held quarterly scrapbooking/stamping weekend retreats for herself and her military wives group.  She and about 30 of her friends would get together and make weekends of scrapping and stamping.  This was a very special time in her life. In the hills surrounding Spangdahlem, Germany, Jan realized her dream could one day come true!  After having their second daughter, Allison, they received orders to report to Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia.  Little did she know, there was a plan for her, right there in the “middle of nowhere", Georgia.  She was only there for a couple of months when she started attending local crops.  At her first local crop, she knew she would make some wonderful cropping friends.  Jan knew at this point that no matter where the military took them, she would not stop cropping…ever!  Stamping, scrapping, paper crafting, cropping and organizing are in her blood to stay!  While in Georgia, she met a wonderful group of lifelong friends.  During the summer of 2009 at a weekend retreat, her dream of owning a paper crafting event organizing business became a reality…Create~n~Crop Events, LLC was born!  It seemed to be the right time, right place, and the right group of friends and volunteers.  In early 2010, once again, Mark received orders and Jan and her family moved to Hawaii to be stationed at Hickam Air Force Base.  With the help of a good friend and wonderful volunteer, Stephanie Coleman, the business continued to thrive.  She also had five fabulous volunteers to help with keeping the buisness running like a well oiled machine, those volunteers are: Lisa Mosely, Mandy Westmoreland, Sonya Burroughs, Erin Lycett and Angel Sawyer. Earlier this yeara, Stephanie's husband (also a military officer) received orders to leave Georgia. Since that time, Lisa Mosely has given numerous volunteer hours to keep the business running as usual.

Jan and her family landed on the island of Oahu in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 25, 2010 and she quickly realized that there were no scrapbooking or stamping classes being taught at the local Arts & Crafts Center on Hickam Air Force Base.  The Arts & Crafts Center accepted Jan’s proposal to become their “Scrapping/Stamping/Paper Crafting” instructor.  She began teaching her first classes in October of 2010 but that only lasted for a few months. Jan's passion is organizing events, not teaching! She recently received licensing to conduct business in Hawaii with Create~n~Crop Events, so if you are on the island of Oahu...stay tuned!
